RedLasso taps video metadata manuvering

RedLasso has a new idea for making big bucks on synidcated content.  What does this have to do with libraries?  Why concern the field with this commercial content?

The RedLasso concept is an effort to manage video content (information) and libraries should take note of new for profit and non-profit means of content management.  The demo is interesting on several levels.  First, the RedLasso group does a good job of making the user understand a complex information access procedure.  This online tutorial tact would work well for many tools in the library field that leave users confused or daunted by library search techniques and/or “library lingo.”  Second, video metadata tags are user selected leading to possibilites of a powerful search tool in the making.

Over 6 million dollars have been invested in this start up.  It will be interesting to see what Pat Croce and the rest of the RedLasso group bring to the video editing table.  The concept meets a need for users with compressed time for video production in a medium of information transfer ever more reliant on visual content.

BTW -I take objection to the misspelling of the word “talkes” in the title of the demo clip.  Is it a web 2.0 oversight or will the search tool compensate for title mispellings?

Thanks for the interest in Redlasso! I apologize for the mispelling in the demo video. We are actively working on a series of videos that will better explain all of the features of the system. Keep an eye out for new features!

What tools do you currently use to produce your video work? Is it an in house operation?

I am working on a series of library videos on YouTube to expand viral marketing of the WD Library and libraries in general. My content is strictly informational. The procedural guidance in your tutorial is intriguing and has potential, imho. BTW-I forwarded your URL to EbscoHost (library database vendor) today.
