About
Blogging is my latest foray into the world of Web 2.0. This blog is created as a companion to West Deptford Reader Reviews, a customer centered book review blog made possible with literacy grant funds from the New Jersey State Library.
I am a recent graduate of Drexel University’s MSLIS program building on four years of coordinator experience at West Deptford Free Public Library and a BA in Business Administration from Rutgers University.
I currently serve as the Adult Services, Technology Librarian WDFPL, a medium-sized, friendly municipal library serving a community of approximately 25,000 people. I consider it my personal mission to keep the library from being viewed as a depository of books, but rather a vital component of the community serving diverse user groups. I could continue my advertisement for the innovative public library, but will defer in consideration of the bloggers reading this post. I invite you all to check out the variety of programming efforts at WDFPL. I like to try new and different types of programming that push the envelope in partnership formation. The video clips at the bottom of the Adult Services page can also be found on YouTube. Programming has expanded thanks in part to grants secured over the past few years.
Technological advances in library and information service continue to provide opportunities for creative collaboration as Technology Librarian. In early 2006, the library migrated Internet service and web hosting to align itself with the newly revised New Jersey Library hub grant project. I also redesigned and currently maintain the library website www.westdeptford.lib.nj.us with departmental input. This arrangement releases me from solo development through departmental delegation, while retaining artistic control.
